Kevin Notice

***Notice from our outgoing Chairman – Kevin Britton***

As past Chairman I would like to wish our new Committee all the best in their new roles taking the Club forwards, growing its membership along the way.
My 2yrs have past quick, even with its ups and downs and would do it all again as its a fantastic club. Made loads of good friends along the way, up and down the Country, many thanks to all that have supported me
throughout my time on the Committee .
Will look forward to catching up at 2021 AGM weekend.
Thanks to all the Executive Committee.
Stay Safe Everybody, stay in, read Ferguson books and watch tractor dvds 🙂

Kevin….

Linkage Winch

Linkage Winch

Ferguson Linkage Winch Type WU-E-20 Serial No.1184

I came across this winch some years ago on a farm about 10 miles from my home.
Recently I decided to get it tidied up. On looking over it I found that the oil seal on the input shaft was leaking, this meant a complete strip down. It turned out to be quite a tricky job doing it on one’s own. A lot of time and patience was needed in making the missing parking legs and then giving it a good clean and paint.I am very pleased with the way it has turned out.

Specification:
The winch is fitted with 35 meter x 9mrn, 6 x 36 wire rope.
Pulling capacity is 7000 Ibs – 3175 kg.
Rope speed 50 ft per minute at 1500 rpm.
Weight 678lbs = 307.58 kg.

In June 1954 this winch cost £88.00 new.

Ferguson Implements in the United States

Ferguson (and Other?) Implements in the United States

There came in the post one day a letter from David Lory in Wisconsin listing no less than 44 implements of his, the majority Ferguson, either manufactured in or exported to the United States. It reminds one that by mid 1947, when the arrangement with Ford came to an end, Harry Ferguson Inc had built up subcontracting arrangements with more than 100 American companies manufacturing within their combined inventories about 160 Ferguson implements and appliances. May we hope our American members have their tabs on most of them! Here in the UK the situation was that by mid 1948 Harry Ferguson had sub-contracting arrangements with more than 20 British firms, the more important being these:

We are extracting David Lory’s collection of American implements into this section. It is not known how many of them are in the TO 20 range and David is being invited to tell us more about them. A few close-up photographs would be of great interest, as would explanations of some of the less obvious. What, for example, is a DO-21 Middle Buster?
