TED20 PTO yoke engagement problem

Can anyone help please. I have a Ted20 and have swapped the old 1 1/8 pto drive shaft in the tractor to a 6 spline 1 3/8”. I have tried to fit a pto yoke from a flail mower on to it. It slides onto the tractor shaft ok but won’t engage the locking mechanism on the yoke because the yoke isn’t circular and so butts up against the shaft housing on the tractor. I could probably grind the pto yoke to get it to fit but before I do, I was wondering whether anyone else had come across this problem and if so, what was the solution. Thanks

It is most likely that the PTO shaft on your mower is of a power rating and size for a more power-full tractor, which makes the end quite large.
