Foam filled tyres

Post by Roadknight »

Hi,
We have been doing rather a lot of topping with our fergi, and it seems we are getting our fair share of punctures. The problem being the front tyres, where the thorns puncure between the ribs. Has anyone had their tyres professionally foam filled, and would you reccomend it being done? Another question I have is weather they make the tractor any more bumpy when on the road, or if they have any other downsides.
Thank you,
Thomas.

Have you considered using 'OKO' or similar?

Yes, we have but we are just a bit worried about it degrading overtime, and not being a proper long term solution to this problem.

We kept getting punctures in our hedge cutter so tried oko, then suprise one morning - flat tyre. when we took the tube out there were 15 other holes that the oko had sealed. It didn't so much deteriorate as ran out of fluid.
Assuming you're on 4.00x19 4 ply fronts, an option would be to get some 16" front rims and put a pair of 7.50x16 8 or 10 ply truck tyres on, just for hedging. Might make the steering heavy.
