Questions about fuel system on TEF20

Post by ed_TEF20 »

Hi,

I have a couple of questions on the fuel system of my TEF20 if someone could help me out.

1) The auxiliary tank has been removed and the fuel pipe from the bottom of the fuel tank directly goes into the left hand inlet on the lift pump. Other than that everything appears to be standard apart from an additional pipe from the bottom of injector 4 which goes back to the front inlet on fuel filter 2. Can anyone tell me what that is doing and whether I need to keep this pipe?

2) I seem to have a small leak from the bottom of injector 4 (dripping from the nuts holding the injector in). I've looked online and it seems that there are typically copper washers between the nuts on each injector which my injectors don't have. Would you recommend me adding these in?

Thanks.

Hi Ed

The fuel pipe going direct to the lift pump is ok. The pipe from the filter that joins the leak off pipe at number 4 injector is required, it bleeds any air out of the system back to tank. There should be a small pipe between number 2 and 3 injector that makes a circuit back to tank, it feeds any leak off fuel from the injectors, or air back to tank.
Question 2 are you referring to the 2 nuts that hold the injector into the cylinder head, if so there should be no diesel leaking there. Its more likely to be the injector pipe or the leak off pipe.
