Ignition Issues

Post by wilkg1 »

Hi Folks, Purchased a 1952 Ferguson TED 20 12v neg earth a few weeks ago, all is good with here except dud battery, sorted that one and turns over fine with all connections in order. Coil, points and condenser were duff, replaced all these and dist cap and spark plugs + leads. Have got a very healthy spark at the points now but no spark at the plugs! any suggestions?

may be down to a school boy error on my part as new dist cap supplied with small brass discs, should these be put in dist cap tops before screwing in the acorn connectors at the end of leads? Thoughts on this appreciated

Hi
If the leads are copper wire type the end of the wire should go through the little washers and be spread out. Another way to test how good the spark is, is to put the coil lead into the coil and place the other end near the block then open and close the points and you should have a good spark at the end of the lead.
Hope that helps you.
