Not wishing to doubt your mechanical ability, but have you put the clutch plate in back to front. This would cause issues when trying to disengage. I have seen it before. Easily done.

I usually put a strap onto the front axle. Just make sure you attach it in a way that it can’t slip and damage the side of the bonnet.

I was missing the filter in my TET 20, so I purchased a new unit from one of the suppliers, and then used the new filter from it inside my original mesh and top.

Welcome to the Ferguson world. Your tractor is a diesel TEF, which has a pre-engage starter via the gearstick and a safety button on the side of the gearbox.
