3 point fixing dropping when pressing the clutch

Hi folks.Ive got a diesel TEF20 1955 and the fault is that the 3 point arms drop quickly when dipping the clutch. It didn’t used to when I first had it but since using a spring time cultivator and finishing mower it’s started to drop.I removed the circular plate with the dipstick fitted into it to look when it’s dropping where oil is escaping from.It doesn’t look like the main ram is leaking but I get a small continual stream( like a tap on slow)coming from somewhere at the very top plate under the seat area.I wondered if the relief valve is seized or slightly stuck of its seat but it’s so far up I can’t see where it’s actually coming from.Any ideas members please. Many thanx Rob Mead

Hi, had the same with our TEF. We had the pump out several times to no avail so in desperation took the top off.
The oil feed from the pump goes through a gallery in the baseplate, then up inside the side of the gearbox casting and into the piston via another gallery in the top casting. Our problem was the gearbox to top casting gasket had given out where the top of the pipe met the top casting.
Hope that helps.

This was a long time ago now, but from what I remember you have to go in through the side plates first and disconnect the control valve fork from the valve before you lift.
Good idea to have a couple of saw horses ready to rest the lid onto as the control linkage hangs down.

Funny,I was goin to ask you that very question as I was watching a chap on you tube doing the same job and he said you have to disconnect a fork first from the sides.Thankyou so much for all the info.Yours a star.Regards Rob

There's a bit of video on youtube from Car sos showing townsend trying to take the top off with it still connected.
Bundy Bear's Shed is a good watch.
