looking to replace the 3 rings on my lift arm piston. but i see the latter models have a single grooved piston with a single ring witch one is best?? will a single ring hold up the armes when tractor is turned off?
Thanks Tim
lift arms piston
Re: lift arms piston
Hi Tim.
The 3 grooved piston would have metal piston ring fitted, which from new leak a small amount of oil letting the arms go down slowly The single grooved piston has a black o ring and a white backing washer, this gives a better seal but doesn't guarantee the lift will not drop a small amount. Can't remember if they are interchangeable, to use the single ring piston the lift cylinder barrel has to be free from any scoring or you damage the o ring.
