Ted20 - Battery Going Flat?

Hi,

When I have tried to start our little Ted I have had to use a booster pack on the battery. I bought and fitted a new battery about 5 months ago, but it wont start now, unless I use a booster pack.

Is there any reason why the battery would have gone flat, or is something draining the battery?

Many Thanks,
Alwyn

Are you sure the battery is flat or is the engine slow to turn due to a bad connection somewhere?
Using a multimeter set to Vdc, check the voltage at the battery posts. Then move one probe from the post to the post clamp - see if the voltage changes. then do the same with the other. Carry on down the loom moving one connection at a time. You may find there is a sudden drop in voltage. That connection could be your problem.
Another way to check, disconnect the battery at both terminals and put it on charge for 12hrs or so. Connect the live lead as normal then put a multimeter set to 'amps' between the earth battery post and the clamp. With the ign off there should be 0 amps draw. If there is a draw then there is a good chance the control box is faulty.
If you're going to leave it for any length of time it's good practice to just disconnect the earth lead.
