Hello
I wonder If anyone can help. Iv recently acquired a TEF20 with aviation cab and banana loader, bit of a barn find that’s been sitting for 15 years and I’m wanting to do a full service on it but I can’t seem to find much info on what engine oil to use and what gear oil to use. Iv got the original service manual but I can’t find anything about oil type only about the ‘fill up data’. What is my best option for engine oil and gear oil? Thanks
TEF 20 oil

Re: TEF 20 oil
Hi,
Most important is to use a good quality old fashioned mineral oil with no modern detergents in it which can damage an old engine. I use 20w 50 in the engine ( I'm using Castrol at moment but brand down to personal preference) and 15w 40 in back end. I have just found this works well for me as the 20w 50 is a fairly thick oil providing good viscosity at high temperatures keeping the oil pressure good when warmed up and working

Engine is about 6.8L to fill back end around 22L from memory, plus you will need a drop of oil for the oil bath air cleaner
