Tea 20 won’t rev over 1400rpm

Post by Steve »

Hello everyone bit of an odd one here, I’ve got a tea 20 running on petrol starts and runs great, sounds to be running nicely but won’t run any higher than 1400revs. Idols at around 500 which is a bit high, I’ve read it should be 450 but not bothered about that, but full throttle I’m told should be around 2000 to 2600 and I can’t get it to run higher than 1400. When the engine is off I’ve got full travel on the throttle linkage right from the idol stop on the carb to wide open but when the engine is running on full throttle the governor holds the carb only half open? I’ve checked all linkages and governor setting with Ferguson manual and all seems good. Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem might be???

Hi Steve
Difficult to say with out seeing tractor, but I would say you require more pressure on the governor spring this is the adjustment that it talks about the Ubolt on the throttle shaft. have attached an address for the manual that I use, you need section F page 183 to 190 if you type the address into google it should come up with a manual Ferguson_TE_20_service_manual_bis
